"I desperately wanted to prove I could be a triathlete. It wasn't just that the London Olympics triathlon footage deeply inspired me; I also felt a strong calling to get active and leave behind a proud legacy for my kids. This drove me to take on my very first race at the Takaharayama Triathlon in the summer of 2012, at 45 years old. Now, I’m constantly pushing my middle-aged body to its limits—struggling and sweating it out in the pool, on the treadmill, and on the exercise bike."
