"I desperately wanted to prove I could be a triathlete. It wasn't just that the London Olympics triathlon footage deeply inspired me; I also felt a strong calling to get active and leave behind a proud legacy for my kids. This drove me to take on my very first race at the Takaharayama Triathlon in the summer of 2012, at 45 years old.
